Overview

The Inca Trail through Salkantay is one of the best adventure alternatives that will allow you to visit Machu Picchu in 5 days and 4 nights in a 73 kilometer (45.3 miles) journey. It will allow you to appreciate mountains of lush vegetation, ravines, rivers and hot springs. You can also feel the temperature changes during ascents and descents through the great mountains along the Salkantay Hike tour. RECOMMENDATIONS:

Tour Plan

CUSCO - MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA (A)(C):
Pick up from the hotel (5:00 am aprox.) We board our transport to the village of Mollepata approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to arrive at the village Mollepata breakfast (not included) then continue our journey until we reach Challacancha to start our 4 hours walk until arriving at Soraypampa (3,850 masl) where we will have lunch and where will also be our first camp. After lunch it is optional to visit the Humantay Lagoon for 3 hours and then have our dinner.

SORAYPAMPA - CHAULLAY (D) (A) (C)
Very early in the morning we will leave our camp, after a delicious breakfast in the direction of the snowy Salkantay (4,540 masl) which is the highest point of the whole route for approximately 4 hours, we ascend this first step where we will have a brief rest to power Take in the breathtaking views that will be appreciated from this point. During the trip we will find several mounds of stones called Apachetas. Afterwards we will descend for about 2 hours until Huayracmachay where we will have lunch and then continue descending for 4 hours approx. Until arriving at Chaullay where our second camp is. Dinner and Overnight.

CHAULLAY - THE BEACH (Sawayaco) - SANTA TERESA (D) (A) (C):
After breakfast we depart chaullay at 7:00 am. Approx. To continue our walk. We will go through narrow paths with abundant flora of the area like the different types of orchids and waterfalls that will be seen during the whole trip. After 6 hours of walking we will finally reach Playa Sawayaco where we will have lunch and then we will take our transport with direction to Santa Teresa populated that is to 1,645 msnm by approximately 45 minutes we will be in Santa Teresa around 3.00 pm where we will settle In our camp. After a short break we will go to the thermals medicinal baths (not included) that is located at 4.5 km aprox. Of Santa Teresa. Dinner and overnight.

SANTA TERESA - HYDROELECTRIC - AGUAS CALIENTES (D) (A):
At 8:00 a.m. In the morning after having breakfast we will start our hike to Hidroelectrica for 4 hours approximately. After arriving to Hidroeléctrica we will have lunch and then we will continue walking for approximately 3 hours until arriving at Aguas Calientes. Arriving to hot waters we will settle in our respective accommodations. Around 07.00pm we will have dinner and we will coordinate the next day's visit to the city of Machupicchu.

AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHUPICCHU - CUSCO (D):
Very early after our breakfast we will take the first bus that will take us to the sanctuary of Machupicchu for approximately 30 minutes. Then we will have our guided tour for approximately 3 hours where the guide will take us to the most important places of the citadel, Temple of the Sun, temple of the three windows, main square, Intiwatana, Temple of the Condor, after our visit we will have time Free to explore and explore Machupicchu on its own. The other option is to climb the Huaynapicchu (not included) to appreciate the impressive view of the whole citadel. Finally we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes and then go to the station and wait for our train that will take us back to the village of ollantaytambo for 1 hour and 45 minutes where our transportation will pick you up to Cuzco arriving at approximately 10:30 pm .
