Tour Plan
We will pick you up at your hotel at 08:30 a.m. in our tourist transport to start our visit to the following places:
MARAS: Located west of Cusco at 3300 m.a.s.l. from there you can see the Urubamba mountain range and the peaks of "La Verónica" (5,682 m.a.s.l.) and "Chikón" (5,530 m.a.s.l.) Its important occupation began when the Inca nobles of Cusco were stripped of their palaces in Qosqo and had to go out and settle in other small towns like Maras. It has a church built in adobes, typical of small-town religious architecture, inside the church canvases from the Cusqueña School are kept. We will also be able to observe colonial portals with coats of arms of the nobles and caciques of the 17th and 18th centuries.
MORAY: It is located about 7 km from Maras; It is a unique archaeological group of its kind. These are gigantic natural holes in the surface of the land that were used to build terraces or agricultural platforms with their respective irrigation canals on their contours. It was a prototype of a greenhouse or biological experimental station quite advanced for its time that helped man to give to make known to humanity 60% of the vegetable products that it consumes, that the Andean man consumes a thousand and a half different varieties of potatoes, a hundred and a half of corn, and many other products.
SALT MINES OR SALT MINES:
Located northwest of the town of Maras, they are made up of about 3000 small wells with an average area of about 5 m², during the dry season they are filled or "watered" every 3 days with salt water that emanates from a natural spring located in the part top of the wells so that when the water evaporates, the salt contained in it gradually solidifies, later the salt is hit and thus granulated; the salt will then be bagged in plastic sacks and sent to the markets of the region; Today that salt is being iodized, which is why its consumption is not harmful. Finally we will be returning to the city of Cusco at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Duration: 6-7 HOURS approximately.
