The “Humantay Lagoon” excursion takes place in an area with a great height, which implies that it is a frigid area. To have a good excursion it is highly recommended to wear clothing that generates heat such as a hat, scarf, glove, jacket or coats, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat and a rain coat or poncho, it is also recommended to bring some snacks that provide energy and calories (chocolate, nuts, candies and water).

Tour Plan

Our adventure towards Laguna HUMANTAY begins with the pick-up from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. to 05:00 a.m., to head for 2 hours by transport to MOLLEPATA where we will have a nutritious breakfast, then we will continue with the trip for another hour. to the SORAYPAMPA bus station. Continuing with our adventure towards the HUMANTAY Lagoon (4200 m.a.s.l.). We begin to ascend through a pampa with beautiful views, if the sky is clear we will have the opportunity to appreciate from afar the imposing Apus of SALKANTAY AND HUMANTAY (The Apus are Inca divinities). Our ascent from SORAYPAMPA to Laguna HUMANTAY lasts approximately 1 hour and a half (5 km), but it is also possible to rent a horse if you wish. The walk is considered easy to moderate, but all the effort will be rewarded with a magical view of the lagoon. The word Humantay is of Quechua origin, which is a family of languages originating in the Peruvian Andes. The Humantay Lagoon Meaning is "The Head of the Gods" and the word Salkantay has a meaning of "Wild Mountain". There we will have enough time to take photos, make a brief offering to the Apus, Immediately after we begin our descent from Laguna HUMANTAY towards SORAYPAMPA which lasts approximately 1 hour, an easier walk than the climb. In SORAYPAMPA we will take the transport back to MOLLEPATA where a rich lunch (buffet) awaits us and then we will take our transport back to the imperial city of Cusco at 6 pm in the afternoon.
